Maniac Cop 4?

This is amusing news, because as luck (or my love of late-night trash on cable) would have it, I was just watching MANIAC COP 2 and 3 a couple of weeks ago. I hadn’t seen either in forever. Part 2 is actually a fairly gritty little urban genre piece at times, while 3 is useless junk with a plot I still don’t understand. In other words, they both held up well…

It would appear that the director and writer combo of the series, William Lustig and Larry Cohen, are planning on reteaming for a fourth entry, having just retained the rights to the franchise. Lustig, according to Fangoria, said so himself at a recent double feature of the first 2 MANIAC COP flicks.

I don’t know if I could have lived without another MANIAC COP, so this is good news for me. It’s even better news for Robert Z’Dar, who has buckled up as killer Matt Cordell in all three films… We’ll keep you updated, as always, on these developments.
