Today Fangoria snagged some art and details for a new Special Edition DVD of MANIAC COP, the William Lustig 1988 flick starring Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins as a young police officer and a lieutenant who take on a superhuman killer (Robert Z’Dar) dressed to the 9’s as a cop.
The disc will sport a new 16×9-enhanced high-definition 1.85:1 transfer remastered from old vault materials and new DTS 6.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio tracks along with the original 2.0 Surround sound.
Supplements for the disc include audio commentary by Campbell, producer/writer Larry Cohen and others (worth the price alone, I bet), a new featurette with Z’Dar himself, additional scenes filmed for the Japanese TV broadcast, theatrical trailer and TV spots. No word on when exactly this bad boy will be released, but at least the price is right (sort of) at $24.95.
