Marc Webb would like J. Jonah Jameson to appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3

You'd think with all the characters appearing in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 director Marc Webb would include J. Jonah Jameson since he's played such a big part in the comics, but unfortunately the cigar chomping editor-in-chief won't be in the new movie. However while taking part in a Google+ Hangout, Marc Webb said he would really like to introduce J. Jonah Jameson in the next film, but he also says it's going to be very hard to find someone to top J.K. Simmons' performance as the character in Sam Raimi's Spidey flicks.

I like the idea very much of him coming up in the next film. It was more easy to accept a new Spider-Man than someone who could out do J.K. Simmons in that role, he is so iconic. That's something we've really talked about. Obviously I love that character because he poses such an interesting dilemma for Spider-Man. The answer is I don't know, but I think you can expect to see him in the future.

A couple of months ago we reported on a The Daily Bugle viral blog for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 featuring an editorial from Jameson, and most of you said you'd love to see J.K. Simmons as JJJ again in Marc Webb's films. Doubt it's going to happen, but I think it would be really cool if Sony and Webb brought Simmons back for the new Spider-Man movies.

One of you also suggested Timothy Olyphant for Jameson when the viral blog was posted, and I think he would make an awesome Jameson, but if Sony wanted to go a little older, I think Stephen Lang would do a great job with the character as well. Who do you want to see play J. Jonah Jameson in Marc Webb's Spider-Man films?

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will open on May 2nd, 2014, followed by THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 on June 10th, 2016, and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 on May 4th, 2018.
