Borat star Maria Bakalova plays a key role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Maria Bakalova, Marvel

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm star Maria Bakalova is joining the Marvel Universe! Deadline has revealed that Bakalova will have a key role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is slated to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Sylvester Stallone, Karen Gillan, Elizabeth Debicki, Will Poulter, and Chuk Iwuji. Much like the plot of the film, Bakalova’s role is being kept a secret for the time being. Before Vol. 3 hits theaters, the Guardians will star in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, releasing in December 2022. Whether or not the events of the special will factor into the plot of Vol. 3 remains to be seen.

Production for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  began in November 2021. The film is executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith. David J. Grant and Lars P. Winther are co-producing. Maria Bakalova is the Oscar-nominated actress who played Tutar Sagdiyev in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. Bakalova has several projects in the works, including parts in Bodies Bodies Bodies, director Dean Craig’s The Honeymoon, and Kieron Hawkes’ Branded.

We’ll have to wait for more details to know who Bakalova is playing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, though I’m sure fans are speculating wildly about the possibilities. Do you have any guesses? If you do, feel free to share them in the comments section below.
