There’s been a lot of chatter coming out of THE EVIL DEAD camp as of late. Earlier this morning a lengthy, spoiler-ish synopsis was unearthed; yesterday word came down that director Fede Alvarez is taking his cast and crew to New Zealand for filming. Well lads and lasses…Sony and FilmDistrict have gone ahead slapped this baby with a legitimate release date already.

You ready for it…

THE EVIL DEAD will permeate theaters April 12, 2013.

At the time of this article, no other major motion pictures are slated to announce that day. In fact, the closest one slated is Andrew Niccol’s THE HOST which comes out in late March.

No casting has yet been announced, but THE EVIL DEAD centers on five friends holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead with a demonic force unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival.

Under a $14,000 budget, THE EVIL DEAD enters production early next year. Again, the film is slated to enter theaters April 12, 2013.
