Mark your calendars! Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar gets a release date!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Time to scribble in a new date on your must-see movie calendar as Christopher Nolan‘s next effort, INTERSTELLAR, now has a release date, debuting on November 7, 2014. The film “involves time travel and alternate dimensions in a story that sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.”

When we last reported on INTERSTELLAR, Nolan was not yet locked as director and was reworking the script by his brother, Jonathan, which once had Steven Spielberg attached to helm.  Now, Nolan is officially set to helm the mysterious sci-fi pic and we can all breathe a little easier knowing that the helmer has something in the pipeline.

Here’s the official press release:

Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures said, “As a filmmaker and storyteller, Chris has continuously entertained the world with his extraordinary and unparalleled talents. I am pleased beyond measure to welcome him to the Paramount Pictures family. Partnering with Chris, Emma, Lynda and Warner Bros. to release this original idea next November is the perfect way to start the Thanksgiving and holiday movie season for audiences around the world.”

Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said, “Christopher Nolan is truly one of the great auteurs working in film today, and we’re extremely proud of our successful and ongoing collaboration with him and Emma Thomas. We are excited to be teaming with Paramount, and look forward to working with the Nolans, and producer Lynda Obst, on this extraordinary new project.”

INTERSTELLAR will hit theaters on November 7, 2014

in traditional and IMAX theaters.
