Marvel Studios’ Echo gets reactions to the brutality in the first two episodes on social media

Marvel Studios’ new series Echo is only a month away, and it’s turning a lot of heads by boasting the mature content it is said to feature. The show that connects to the MCU joins the gritty takes that have been emulated from similar Marvel shows like Daredevil and The Punisher, which feature lower-level urban-type threats, and our heroes don’t hold back on the brutality of justice or vengeance. The juggernaut film and TV studio recently held an advance screening of the first two episodes and reactions recently have poured onto social media. While the attendees have kept their lips tight on details, they do reiterate how incredibly dark the show was.

A user with the handle @twpercival1 posted, “Saw the first two episodes of #echo tonight and have a lot of thoughts. I think fans of Netflix’s Daredevil are going to love it. It’s like Marvel remembered it can be violent and dark. Alaqua Cox is amazing! Although I don’t love all the creative decisions though”

Another attendee with the handle @iKenny_J reacted, “Personally I didn’t enjoy all parts, show is definitely Brutal, dark, has calm moments with a strong focus on Maya. Also Daredevil fans will no doubt like what they did in the show.”

A blue-checkmarked account that has the handle @disneyplusnews got to see three episodes and posted their brief bulletpoint reaction, saying, “#Echo – I’ve got to see the first 3 episodes. More mature than other #disneyplus #marvel shows, great fight scene with Daredevil. Loved Kingpin. Fab Action. Feels more like “TV’. Lower stakes, perfect for the new Spotlight brand. Can’t wait to see the other episodes on Jan 10th.”

@paulkleinyoo drew attention to the fact that Echo is definitely not an enormous Avengers-type epic, but a more intimate show when he posted, “If the world ending stakes of the MCU have you longing for something more grounded #Echo is the gritty tonic. Two episodes seen and it’s a hard hitting action thriller with a great sense of Native American culture. Cant wait to see the final three when they drop in Jan.”

@EmilyVMurray posted her semi-mixed reaction that said, “Enjoyed the first two episodes of #ECHO which had an incredible (and violent) fight scene I want to watch again and again. The sound design is [fire]. The brilliant Alaqua Cox continually draws me in, but I found the storytelling and pacing shaky. Excited to see the rest!”

No bad deed goes unpunished on January 10, 2024, when Marvel Studios’ Echo launches on Disney+ and Hulu. Check out the all-new trailer and poster revealed this morning. The five-episode streaming event spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy. All five episodes will stream on January 10 on both platforms. They’ll be available on Hulu until April 9. This marks the first Marvel Studios series to drop all entirely bingeable episodes at once.
