Hurray for THE MASTERS OF HORROR! The compilation of 13 one-hour
shorts, directed by some of the greatest horror film directors of our time, will have it’s television debut-
not on FOX, or SCI-FI, but unedited and commercial free on SHOWTIME!

Although it’s getting it’s DVD debut on Anchor Bay, it will air as a
series on Showtime, much to the satisfaction of co-creator Mick Garris
(screamin’ to the right), who told Dread Central“It’s
incredibly exciting and humbling to have gathered all these great filmmakers
for this project, I feel like the Zelig of horror.”

Showtime’s President of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt seems truly
excited about the dealio too, stating that“Showtime is
thrilled to be working with this roster of filmmakers, all of whom have
contributed significantly to the horror and suspense genre. The title
is truly appropriate since Mick Garris and his fellow directors simply
are the ‘masters of horror’. It’s hard to really scare the audience
these days, but I guarantee that these guys will really do just
that.”

Awesome. Totally awesome! Could we have an edited MASTERS OF HORROR? I
don’t think so! I’m glad they’re gonna give these guys the freedom to
do what they want, while giving us the freedom of enjoying the series
the way it was meant to be seen. Thank you, Showtime!

Wondering exactly what these masters of horror are brewin’ for us?
Check it out: John Landis will direct DEER WOMAN, Dario Argento’s doing
JENIFER, Don Coscarelli is takin’ on INCIDENT ON AND OFF A MOUNTAIN ROAD,
Mick Garris is helming CHOCOLATE, Stuart Gordon’s directing DREAMS IN
THE WITCH HOUSE, and John Carpenter is delivering us some CIGARETTE
BURNS. And this is just the beginning! Stay tuned for more updates on
THE MASTERS OF HORROR in the weeks to come…
