It’s hard to believe that Showtime’s upcoming horror series MASTERS OF HORROR is almost upon us, with just over a month to go before the first of the thirteen episodes air, marking the return of such greats as John Carpenter and Mick Garris.
In preperation for the premiere of the series it’s time to get ready for the kick-ass MASTER OF HORROR soundtrack, which is gearing up to hit shelves October 18th, just in time for Halloween!
The soundtrack is a dual-disc set of new and previously unreleased material from over 25 top rock, metal and punk artists including Mudvayne, System of a Down, Andrew WK , Buckethead featuring Serj Tankian,Norma Jean, Mastodon, Shadows Fall, Alkaline Trio, From Autumn to Ashes, Funeral for a Friend, Thursday, Rise Against, Bear vs. Shark and a host of others.
Wow, what a line-up! To be honest, I can’t say I’ve heard of any of these guys, but doesn’t mean it’s not going to be as rockin’ as it’s lining up to be. The series creator Mick Garris also had this to say aobut the soundtrack:
“Horror is to cinema what rock n’ roll is to music: rebellious, transgressive, loud and abrasive. The sound in horror is every bit as important as the vision. Horror can be quiet and sneak up on you, and just give you a chill. Or it can grab you by the throat and rip out your trachea. We hope to embrace the full range on the Masters of Horror soundtrack.”
