Matthew McConaughey fears what lies beneath the surface in Serenity trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Everyone knows that terrible secrets are the hardest to keep. In SERENITY, the mysterious past of a fishing boat captain (Matthew McConaughey) living in the Caribbean comes back to haunt him, ensnaring his life in a new reality that may not be what it all seems. Directed and written by Steven Knight (DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, EASTERN PROMISES), SERENITY is a dramatic cat-and-mouse thriller that finds a reclusive boatman feeling like a worm on a hook after a seductive and dangerous figure from his past resurfaces.

Joining Matthew McConaughey for Knight's intensely stark thriller are Anne Hathaway (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES), Diane Lane (MAN OF STEEL), Jason Clarke (MUDBOUND) and Djimon Hounsou (AMISTAD).

Recently while talking about the McConaughey and Hathaway's on-screen chemistry, Knight told People magazine that “Some of the scenes between them are the most electric I have ever been involved in. Matthew and Anne are two of the best actors working anywhere in the world.”

You'll have the chance to see what Knight is so excited about when SERENITY surfaces in theaters on October 19th.
