Sometimes I think the whole world has gone crazy. Seriously, there are days when I just can’t believe what I’m reading because it’s so out there, and so ridiculous, and… so stupid. Today is one of those days. According to a scooper over at FilmRot, it looks like the STD sequels of theatrical money-making movies are the ‘in’ thing right now, and the studios aren’t holding anything back.
Do you remember VAN HELSING? You know, the funner (and dumber) than shit popcorn movie from a few years back? There’s really no reason to make another one (as I think it was a pretty big flop, if I remember correctly), and yet (according to FilmRot) Julian McMahon is set to star in the sequel, taking over the role as Helsing that Hugh Jackman rocked so hard. What the shit??? McMahon, best known for his role as Christian Troy on the TV show NIP/TUCK, not to mention his portrayal as Dr. Doom in THE FANTASTIC FOUR, seems a bit ‘above’ this, as the sequel is set for a Straight to DVD release. A STD sequel??? What the hell is going on here?
I’m a huge fan of McMahon, and I just can’t wrap my head around this. A straight to DVD sequel of a so-so popcorn movie. Like I was saying… the whole world has gone crazy.
