The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that none other than Ian McShane has been cast in Paul ‘I make shitty movies’ Anderson’s remake of DEATH RACE 2000 (which is now titled simply DEATH RACE)! That’s right, the man with the crazy eyebrows is coming at ya in the race to end all races!
McShane’s set to play a coach of one of the racers. Also to note that the casting we told you about HERE about a week ago has been confirmed, with Joan Allen playing the warden of the prison that forces star Jason Statham to race in the first place, and Tyrese Gibson as the notorious Machine Gun Joe. Nice!
The big question in my mind: will Anderson be cool enough to put David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone in the remake, even if it were just cameo roles? I kinda doubt it, cause Anderson ain’t that cool, but you never know…
Filming is set to begin later this year, with a September 26th, 2008 release date in mind. Holy crap. Another full year of news on DEATH RACE. Can’t wait.
