Tonight is the night Sacha Baron Cohen unveils his brand new show, WHO IS AMERICA?, on Showtime. Already critics are saying it’s just as hilariously irreverent and provocative as anything we should expect from Cohen, as he dons several new personas and unleashes them on prominent figures of the political scene. Before you start checking out those Showtime subscriptions a full segment from the show is now up online, and it features Cohen’s new character, Col. Erran Morad, an Israeli anti-terrorism expert who has an idea how to make America safer.

The clip shows Cohen talking to a few key gun advocates and pushing his idea for a program that teaches kids as young as three how to use firearms. The program, “Kinder-Guardians,” is embraced wholeheartedly by the men, falling into Cohen’s comedic trappings again and again. The segment is at its most hilarious (well, for us) when Philip Van Cleave, president of the Virginia Citizen’s Defense League, starts endorsing semi-automatic weapons with stuffed animals attached, like the “Puppy Pistol” and “Uzicorn” (for the girls).
The segment reminds of the scene in Cohen's BRUNO when he talks to several parents auditioning their children for a photo shoot, only for them to say it's okay for him to put their kids near bees, acid and heavy machinery. Some people fall for the gag so easily that they end up digging themselves into this hole of moral ineptitude that it makes for hilarious, biting comedy. We will probably see much of that in WHO IS AMERICA? and this clip is an excellent taste of what Cohen has in store.
