I’m not going to lie, I’ve paid absolutely no attention to Shawn Levy’s REAL STEEL. No particular reason or anything… it just hasn’t really caught my attention. It’s basically TRANSFORMERS in a ring right?
Anyway we scored an intriguing little viral video from the film over in our videos section from WRB and I couldn’t help myself, I just had to tell you guys about it! So here I am! …. So directly below you’ll find a nifty little viral video that introduces us to ‘Mighty Zeus,’ one of the battling robots from the film. Pretty cool right?
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, “Real Steel” follows Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
So REAL STEEL stars Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly, Hope Davis, Olga Fonda, James Rebhorn, Karl Yune and Kevin Durand. Whoa… Evangeline Lilly is in this thing? Well my interest just shot up ten fold! Oh that woman has my heart… Anyway… REAL STEEL is set to hit theaters everywhere on October 7th so check back soon for more goods as they roll our way!
