Who out there’s seen the 1987 Melanie Griffith flick CHERRY 2000? You know, the one with Larry Fishburne, Ben Johnson and Brion James shredding through a post-apocalyptic wasteland? Yup yup, that one!

Well, it looks like Griffith is interested in getting a remake of the “cult-film” off the ground. Thing is, she wants her own daughter Dakota Johnson (fathered by Don Johnson, pictured) to inhabit the role she played almost a quarter decade ago. Not only that, producer Ed Pressman is keen on the idea of a CHERRY 2000 remake, so expect to see the project develop in some form or fashion shortly down the road.

As for Johnson, you may recall her scene in THE SOCIAL NETWORK as the pretty young co-ed who learns she inadvertently banged Timberlake’s Sean Parker. Sounds perfect for Cherry to me!

For those who missed this “so bad it’s good” classic, CHERRY 2000 is set:

In the future, where a man travels to the ends of the earth to find that the perfect woman is always under his nose. When successful businessman Sam Treadwell finds that his android wife, Cherry model 2000 has blown a fuse, he hires sexy renegade tracker E. Johnson to find her exact duplicate. But as their journey to replace his perfect mate leads them into the treacherous and lawless region of ‘The Zone’, Treadwell learns the hard way that the perfect woman is made not of computer chips and diodes, but of real flesh and blood!

F*ck flesh and blood, give me computer chips and diodes all damn day!
