With Sony's MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL beaming into theaters on June 14th, many fans of the franchise are wondering if director Gary F. Gray's reboot of the slick sci-fi action series starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson can bank some out-of-this-world numbers at the box office.

According to reports, MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL is headed toward a $40 million launch for its Thursday preview screenings. While this is but a slice of the film's $110 million production budget, it's to be suspected that the film will perform quite well throughout its opening weekend alongside other new releases, including Tim Story's SHAFT and Jim Jarmusch's zombie comedy THE DEAD DON'T DIE. Back in the day, the three previous MEN IN BLACK films starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones earned a combined total of $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. It's also worth noting that each installment of the series earned $50+ million during their opening gambit.

MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL will take place in the same universe as the original trilogy, though the newest installment will see the secret agent organization going global as part of their efforts to protect Earth from (evil) alien invasion. Emma Thompson is set to reprise her role as Agent O from the original series, with Hemsworth and Thompson playing new agents H and M, respectively. Also set to star are Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani, and Rafe Spall. In this new adventure, the M.I.B. agenets tackle their biggest threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization.

MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL will arrive in theaters on June 14, 2019.
