It’s always a pleasure to come across a fun-sounding indie slasher. I’d like to share that pleasure with my fellow AITH-ers today with MENTAL SCARS, an (you guessed it) indie slash-fest from filmmakers Mischa Perez and Richard Myles of Viper Productions. The plot sounds fairly basic, yet interesting. What do ya’ll think:
David Taggart (up top) is the last survivor of a massacred Native American tribe who lurks in a junkyard built over his people’s burial ground, and murders unwary intruders.
Stay off the ancient Indian burial ground! Oh, I can imagine a very wide range of typical horror movie “staples” that would just love to throw caution to that warning: horny teens (hopefully like the one below), drunk teens, curious teens… The list can go on, which is why I’m thinking MENTAL may be a marvelous guilty pleasure.
The flick was shot in Indiana and recently premiered in Raleigh, NC. Myles co-wrote the script with John Dalton and also played “David Taggart”. The rest of the cast includes Teresa Alexandria, Sonny Landham, Chris Elbert, David Lammert, Rebecca Ogoman and Chelsea McLean. MENTAL is currently shopping around for a distributor, yet already has a sequel in the works. For more info you can check out its official website here.
