I know I’ve said this before but every single time I read something on INTO THE WOODS, my head immediately goes to the song from Nick Cave‘s former band, The Birthday Party. Too bad they won’t add that song to the musical. I can see Meryl Streep singing it as this creepy witch.
How creepy? The first photo of the actress in character popped up thanks to Entertainment Weekly. She looks like she could easily be in a horror movie.
The story centers on “a childless baker and his wife who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch (Streep) that put the spell on them. Along the way, they encounter Rapunzel, Cinderella, “Jack and the Beanstalk’s” Jack, Little Red Riding Hood and other classic fairy tale characters.”
Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Lucy Punch, Christine Baranski, and many more are set to star alongside Streep in Rob Marshall‘s adaptation.
INTO THE WOODS will release on December 25, 2014.
