THE PROPOSITION, THE ROAD, and LAWLESS director John Hillcoat is setting up a badass cast for his next flick, the crime drama TRIPLE NINE. Joining the already cast 12 YEARS A SLAVE star Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, and Casey Affleck is the in-demand FRUITVALE STATION star Michael B. Jordan, Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, and the soon-to-be Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot. Other stars in the mix for the film include WARM BODIES’ Teresa Palmer and rumored ANT-MAN co-star Michael Peña. Now, that’s one hell of a cast if you ask me.

Here’s the lowdown:

In the drama, a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.

Hillcoat is a great director for a crime drama like this and with that lineup I have no doubt TRIPLE NINE will be one to watch when it graces the big screen. It’s not easy to pull off a gritty crime flick (unless you’re Martin Scorsese), but I’m confident that Hillcoat can deliver something really great. His previous work has more than demonstrated that capability.

Production on TRIPLE NINE begins this summer with an eye toward a 2015 release.
