Michael Bay announces a rookie actor as Mark Wahlberg’s costar for Transformers 4, 5, and 6!

JoBloJoBlo

Michael Bay made two surprising announcements today. The first is that he has cast a complete unknown opposite Mark Wahlberg in TRANSFORMERS 4. The other being that this new film is part one in a brand new trilogy of alien robot mega-destruction.

Take a minute and digest that because it is a lot to take in. Here is Michael Bay‘s statement directly from his official website: I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.

Okay, so Bay has faith in the kid. From his IMDb page, Reynor has very little to his credit, the standout being a part on the short-lived Joss Whedon series DOLLHOUSE. Who knows, maybe the kid will surprise us all. But, Bay also goes on to give some plot details on TRANSFORMERS 4:

TRANSFORMERS 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net. This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.

A new trilogy, eh? Well, Bay certainly has confidence in where these movies are going. But, he also had confidence in REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, which was total garbage. I will admit that DARK OF THE MOON was better than expected, but that is mostly due to the epic Chicago sequence. The 3D was distracting and I was beginning to tire of Shia’s nervous twitching. So, we can look forward to a lot more TRANSFORMERS goodness to come.

Anything has to be better than REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, right? Right?
