Michael Jackson’s Thriller video to be re-released in 3D?

So how’d you like to see the King of Pop’s corpse in 3D?

Get this, CHUD is reporting that John Landis, in a recent appearance at London’s BFI, made mention that the Jackson estate is keen on converting Michael Jackson’s groundbreaking music video Thriller into the third dimension. In addition, it appears Landis isn’t averse to the idea, even though he’s not the biggest supporter of the recent technological craze.

What remains muddy is whether or not the 3D version of Thriller is meant for theatrical distribution, by its lonesome (at 13 minutes) or even attached to another project (either Landis’ or some other Jackson commemoration). Something that was confirmed however, was an imminent DVD release of The Making of Thriller documentary that’s long suffered legal wranglings over royalty issues and whatnot. So will the 3D conversion of Thriller be completed in time to serve as the center piece for the Making Of doc? Will they just tack it on to the Specials Features segment? Only time will tell, it seems.

I’m not sure about you guys, but I’m really starting to get sick of this whole 3D trend. And it’s clearly not just limited to feature films. We’ve got 3D cartoons in the works, animated stop motion, music videos…when is the madness gonna slow up if not halt entirely?

Janet Jackson…Poetic Justice!
