Midsommar director teams with A24 for first-look TV deal

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is cool! Deadline reports that filmmaker Ari Aster (Midsommar, Hereditary) has inked a two-year first-look television deal at A24 through his independent production banner Square Peg, which he started with his producer Lars Knudsen. And that makes sense, as A24 has previously released Aster's prior two films.

Anyway, here's what Aster (along with Knudsen) had to say about the collaboration in joint statement:

[We're] excited to team up with A24 on what will be our first venture into TV after having worked on several films together. We pride ourselves on being a home for artists, weirdos and freaks, enabling them to realize their visions without compromise.

A24 added:

It’s great to be re-teaming with Square Peg on their entrée into television. With their track record of distinct, provocative storytelling we are certain that TV will never be the same again.

As for upcoming films, Aster has Disappointment Blvd. up next on the docket – though no official release date announced as of yet. But we'll keep you posted, nonetheless!

So what do you guys think? And what's your favorite Aster movie? Either way, sound off below!
