Might Robert Pattinson appear in Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire?

Take this with a grain or two of salt; we’re firmly entrenched in Rumorville now.

ThinkMcFlyThink (yes, that’s the name of a website) has heard talk of Lionsgate seeking out Robert Pattinson for the coveted role of Finnick Odair in CATCHING FIRE, the sequel to Gary Ross’ THE HUNGER GAMES. Finnick is one of the key new characters in CATCHING FIRE, a young, cocky tribute who our heroine Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) must fight and/or befriend in the latest battle royale.

Now, this would be something that anyone could make up using common sense. Lionsgate recently acquired Summit Entertainment, which of course made the TWILIGHT movies, which of course star Mr. Pattinson. Add to that, CATCHING FIRE director Francis Lawrence last helmed WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, which starred… Robert Pattinson. Finally, Pattinson could be feeling the warm embrace of TWILIGHT money slipping away, as the final installment debuts later this year, so one could assume that he’s in the market for a new franchise that will keep him sleeping in hundreds while he pursues artier fare (like David Cronenberg’s COSMOPOLIS) on the side.

In any event, it’s all just chitter-chatter until we hear something solid. If you want to know more about the character of Finnick, head on over HERE.
