Mike Flanagan: The Haunting of Bly Manor still progressing as scheduled

We don't know when Netflix intends to premiere the next season in their "Haunting" series that's overseen by DOCTOR SLEEP director Mike Flanagan, but yesterday Flanagan took to his Twitter account to assure his followers that The Haunting of Bly Manor has not been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flanagan said that the show is

still on schedule, we wrapped before the shutdown and post production has carrying on from home. The show is shaping up wonderfully, I'm thrilled with it. At the moment no reason to think it'll be pushed. Netflix will announce the release date when they're ready.

The Haunting series began with The Haunting of Hill House, a ten episode season inspired by Shirley Jackson's classic novel. That season can be purchased on DVD and Blu-ray HERE.

The second season also consists of ten episodes, and this one is inspired by the works of The Turn of the Screw author Henry James. The Turn of the Screw tells the story of

a woman who takes a governess job for two orphans in a Victorian home. She begins to see what she believes are ghosts and suspects the children's bizarre behavior is the result of supernatural powers.

The Turn of the Screw has previously served as the basis for the films THE INNOCENTS and THE TURNING, among others, but The Haunting of Bly Manor will be branching out beyond that specific story and mixing in elements from other James stories.

While Flanagan directed every episode of the Hill House season, he brought in some other directors to help him bring Bly Manor to the screen. This season has episodes directed by Ciarán Foy, Liam Gavin, Axelle Carolyn, and the duo of Yolande Ramke and Ben Howling.

The Haunting of Bly Manor stars Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Henry Thomas.
