The last update we had on the small screen adaptation of Steven Spielberg’s MINORITY REPORT was that FOX had ordered the pilot episode, a small but meaningful step for the series. The show has taken another step forward and the network has announced a director for that pilot episode. Established TV director Mark Mylod will take on the pilot episode, his resume includes episodes of Game of Thrones, Shameless (US and UK), Once Upon a Time and The Affair.

The script comes from Max Borenstein (GODZILLA) and will serve as a sequel to the 2002 film. It will be set 10 years later with the “Pre-crime” unit dismantled. One of the three mutated precognitive people who were at the core of that unit “struggles to lead a “normal” human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future, when he meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.”

MINORITY REPORT is easily one of my favorite sci-fi movies, Tom Cruise movies, and Spielberg movies. It's basically a perfect movie that never lets up. I’m intrigued by the series and hope they can bring some clever ideas in order to keep make it feel like an extension of the movie. Look no further than FX’s Fargo TV series to understand how that can be done.
