Monsters Vs. Aliens!

Forget for a moment that this is an animated film from Dreamworks that’ll most likely be rated PG, or maybe a “hard” G. It’s freakin’ called MONSTERS VS. ALIENS, and only an emotionless block of ice wouldn’t crack at least a little grin at that (plus it’s got an adorable four-clawed, bridge-wrecking Furby-behemoth in it!). The project’s reveal comes on the heels of Dreamworks’ announcement that in 2009, all of its animated features will be joining the Digital 3-D revolution, jumping on the hot-ticket bandwagon that gets rolling later this month with Disney’s MEET THE ROBINSONS, and continues with BEOWULF, JOURNEY 3-D (the technology’s first live-action entry), and the eagerly awaited AVATAR. It’s expected that by 2009, the number of digital 3-D screens will jump from approx. 500 to several thousand (at least in Variety’s estimate).

Expect more news on the format to break at ShoWest this week, as that’s where all the cool kids are. Except me.
