Moon Knight, Marvel, Disney+, Mohamed Diab

It was announced just yesterday that Oscar Isaac (STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER) had signed on to star in Marvel's Moon Knight series for Disney+, and it didn't take all that long to find out who will be directing the latest Marvel series.

Deadline has reported that Mohamed Diab has signed on the direct Moon Knight. The Egyptian filmmaker's last feature, CLASH, was a contained thriller set entirely in a police truck full of detainees from different background brought together by fate during the turmoil that followed the ousting of former president Morsi from power. Diab is also known for CAIRO 678 as well as the EL GEZEIRA franchise, which has become one of the highest grossing Egyptian films of all time. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy) is developing the Moon Knight series and will be heading up the writing team.

Now, who the hell is Moon Knight? Prior to becoming the superhero, Marc Spector was a former Marine and CIA agent before becoming a soldier-for-hire, and he amassed quite the fortune for himself over the years. However, when a job in Cairo brought him to a secret archaeological dig, Spector was left for dead by a former colleague who massacred the workers. After dragging himself through the sands towards the tomb of Konshu, the Egyptian moon god, Spector was placed beneath a statue of the god before his heart beat its last. Konshu then appeared before him in a vision and offered Spector a second chance at life if he would become the god's avatar on Earth and defend the innocent. In addition to Moon Knight, there are more Marvel shows in various stages of development for Disney+, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and more. The first of these shows, WandaVision, is slated to debut this December.
