Here’s a little casting update from a flick I haven’t even heard of before. It’s called THE COTTAGE, and it’s about two brothers who bungle the kidnapping of the daughter of a crime boss and then stumble across a dark rural secret. Sound familiar yet? Yeah, me neither. Either way, Variety is reporting that Andy Serkis just joined the cast, and will be playing one of the two brothers in the film.
Probably best known for his role as Gollum in THE LORD OF THE RINGS, as well as his work as Kong in KING KONG, Serkis has made a career playing characters behind a green screen… nice to see he’s breaking out of the mold a bit!
The flick co-stars Reece Shearsmith, the ridiculously hot Jennifer Ellison (just look below) and Steve O’Donnell, and is being billed as a ‘horror-comedy’. If they’re smart, they’re say it’s a ‘dark comedy’, or better yet, just say it’s a straight up ‘horror’ flick, cause when it’s called a ‘horror comedy’, it never seems to do well at the box office. It’s like something people just can’t grasp, for whatever reason. Then again, being upfront about the comedy part is probably a good idea… just look what happened to SLITHER.
Filming started this past Monday, though no release date has been set. Stick around for more on THE COTTAGE as we hear it!
