More on Gate remake

You guys ever seen a screwball horror comedy called FREAKED? If not, you should definitely crack open a six-pack and check it out. Hilarious shit! It also happened to be directed by Alex Winter who you should all know as Bill S. Preston, Esquire, one half of Wyld Stallions! Yeah, Bill from BILL & TED is now both an actor and director (mostly a director) and a couple months back, my man, Eric, broke the news that he would be helming the remake of THE GATE.

Well, just the other day at a screening for FREAKED, Winter (who also starred in the flick) broke some more news regarding the new GATE. Check out this most excellent quote: “I can’t wait to hurl shit at the audience in 3-D!.” Yes, my friends, you heard correctly. Not only is Winter definitely on board as director, apparently we’re also getting a remake in 3D (a la MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D)! Actually, now that I think about it, the original THE GATE would lend itself nicely to 3D with all the crazy effects that happen.

Lastly, as a little bonus tidbit, Winter also stated that he was hoping to get Stephen Dorff (who starred in the original) to play the father in the remake. It sounds like Mr. Winter really has an affinity for the original which usually bodes well in the remaking department. The new GATE is now in pre-production. As soon as we hear more, we’ll post it.

Lovely Megan Ward was in FREAKED.
