JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO promises to deliver many things from bullets by the bucket, precisely-aimed kill shots and Keanu Reeves whooping all the ass with his dog sidekick, Schnitzel. Okay, that may not be the dog’s name, but one thing I did leave out of that list is a sick reunion between THE MATRIX stars Reeves (Neo) and Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), hoping to remind people of a time when slo-mo action scenes and leather garments where the height of luxury for audiences. You can get a sneak peek of said reunion below, and if you look closely, you can see Fishburne slipping Wick a few multi-colored pills.
Reeves spoke to his excitement about reuniting with Fishburne and gave some details about his character:
It was so cool to have a chance to work with Laurence Fishburne again, with the history that we have professionally and personally. I ran into him, and he was saying that he was a fan of the first film, and was there anything in the second film. I said, “As a matter of fact there is!” So, we sent him the project and he responded to the role. Lawrence is playing a character called the Bowery King. He is a leader of this underworld in New York City. He knows everything about everything and he helps John in his mission. It was cool to act with him again and hopefully people will enjoying seeing us reunited.
Hopefully? Seriously, the only thing that could get the testosterone pumping even harder in fans of the first Wick is a MATRIX reunion. Fishburne’s character could just be selling Wick a falafel on a rainy street corner and it would still be one of the most amazing movie moments of 2017. Is it wishful thinking to hope there’s a flashback of the Bowery King teaching Wick kung-fu?
