Fargo’s Noah Hawley thinks Alien TV series still has a shot at Disney

Despite being at the center of a series of questionable films the Xenomorphs from the famed Alien franchise remain one of science fiction's most iconic creatures. As such, it's easy to understand why fans of the acid-blooded aliens would go mental for a proper television series featuring the legendary killers of the silver screen. This is where Fargo creator and Legion showrunner Noah Hawley comes in. Recently Hawley sat down with Deadline to talk about the Season 4 finale of Fargo, at which point he also gave an update on the Alien reboot TV series.

When asked if he is still involved in the project, Hawley said:

"I know that there’s an effort to reshuffle a lot of things post-Disney takeover and it was a conversation that I had a couple of years back. And I have not in the last few weeks been having those conversations about it. But I know that like any studio that there’s a great desire to make the most of one’s library so I wouldn’t be surprised to see something like that."

While it sounds as if Disney is open to bringing the famed Alien franchise to the small screen, Hawley would neither confirm nor deny his involvement on the would-be project. This type of response can be frustrating for journalists, especially when you're hoping to land a scoop that will likely set the social media feeds on fire. This is why you politely press for more information, being careful not to overstep your bounds.

When asked to clarify if he's involved in a potential Alien TV reboot, Hawley reiterated, "Ya know, I have conversations from time to time but I’m not committed." Finally, after sensing that Hawley's guard wasn't about to break, Deadline tried one last time to pump their guest for info by asking if there is any hard conceit to the project, to which Hawley replied, "No, I haven’t — nothing is at that stage."

Alright, Hawley, we'll let you keep your secrets, for now. I think the takeaway from this conversation is that it sounds as if Disney is well aware of what they have after acquiring the Alien franchise and that irons are in the fire, so to speak. I mean, if you're going to release a Predator sequel from 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE director Dan Trachtenberg, chances are you're going to tap that Alien vein as well.
