Boys Season 2 wraps filming, set to debut next Summer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

You know what I say to this news? "F*cking diabolical." Diabolically good that is.

Hands down one of the best shows on television this past year was Amazon's The Boys. Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys exists in a world where superheroes are real but most are narcissistic megalomaniacs who care more about money, sex, and their social media prowess rather than helping people. The Boys are a group of vigilantes tasked with "spanking the bastards" when they get out of line. The first season followed the exploits of leader Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) who along with new recruit Hughie (Jack Quaid) reunites The Boys. After the group kills Translucent, a member of the powerful superhero team known as The Seven, The Boys must expose Vought International, the nefarious company behind Earth's mightiest heroes.

The Boys was one of the most beloved programs of 2019 with a current audience score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Although Joblo's own Alex Maidy was a little cool on the show, the success was enough to warrant a second season almost immediately. Well word has now reached the Interwebs that season two has officially wrapped principal photography. The news comes courtesy of showrunner Eric Kripke's personal Twitter:

In my opinion season one of The Boys was batshit crazy insane in the best possible way. What other show that you know of is going to have a baby killing henchmen with heat vision, a kidnaped dolphin crashing through a van windshield, and a death via analingus??? None I say! The cast was absolutely superb with DREDD's Karl Urban the standout and Antony Starr absolutely chilling as the sociopathic Homelander. The first season ended on cliffhanger the size of Krypton too, so I for one can't wait until this sucker hits the airwaves again.

The Boys season two, starring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominque McElligott, Simon Pegg, and Aya Cash returns in all its blood soaked glory in Summer 2020.
