Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page recently posted a Bond-esque tweet on his official Twitter account and now fans of the star and his new hit Netflix series, are endorsing him as their candidate for the next 007.

The post features the actor dressed to impress and walking confidently towards the camera before raising what some have called a Roger Moore-esque eyebrow. James Bond fans will recognize the second part of Page's caption as he teases his espionage aspirations. The tweet reads "Regency, royalty. Shaken and stirred." You can check out the tweet below:

While the tweet was posted on December 16, 2020, fan response to it has been fairly strong and, at present, Page has odds of 20-1 to be the next actor to take up the 007 mantle. His odds may improve given the fan reaction and the reaction to his series Bridgerton. Created by Shonda Rhimes, it was announced yesterday that Bridgerton was on course to become Netflix's fifth-biggest original series launch with 63 million households projected to watch across its first 28 days. Page plays the Duke of Hastings on the series which follows "The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family as they look for love and happiness in London high society."

Page does have some things working in his favor that would make him a good James Bond. He's 31-years-old, which may be a little young but bodes well for sustaining the role for numerous installments. He's also of British-Zimbabwean descent which would make him the first actor of a Mixed ethnic background to play the part of Ian Fleming's famous creation. There has been some polarizing talk about Bond not being white in the films, particularly when Idris Elba's name was floated around as a top choice but, producer Barbara Broccoli previously asserted that the role could be played by any ethnicity by stating "He can be of any color", last year. Lastly, Page is more of an up and coming actor and not a huge name that would be too distracting from the brand itself.

We still need Daniel Craig's last turn in No Time To Die to be released, which is expected to happen after a few COVID-19 delays on April 2, 2021. Broccoli has stated that a choice for a new Bond won't be made until No Time To Die is finally released and given a chance to perform at the box office so no decisions will be made just yet. Fan choices will always be intriguing and this is just the latest one to be added to the mix.
