Check out Ed Skrein in the trailer for The Transporter Refueled

When questioning why the producers of THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED would cast someone with hair to play a role instantly associated with Jason Statham, the answer becomes clear: this is a prequel. Set prior to THE TRANSPORTER trilogy and television series, the role of Frank Martin is taken over by GAME OF THRONES and DEADPOOL actor Ed Skrein who bares almost no resemblance to Statham aside from his gravelly voice.

THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED (previously titled TRANSPORTER LEGACY) makes it seem like the creators don’t think we will notice the series offers nothing substantially different from the Jason Statham films when the only thing that elevated THE TRANSPORTER above being a mediocre action flick was Statham.

The producers of Lucy and the Taken trilogy bring you the next adrenaline-fueled installment of The Transporter series, THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED, starring newcomer Ed Skrein as Frank Martin, the most highly-skilled transporter money can buy. The stakes are greater and technology better, but the same three simple rules apply: never change the deal, no names and never open the package.

What this trailer shows me is that there is nothing left for this franchise aside from a few quick cash grabs here and there. In fact, I would not be surprised if THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED bombs when it hits theaters on June 19th.
