Cool trailer for BBC's Peaky Blinders starring Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy

With only six more original episodes left in BOARDWALK EMPIRE, where are we going to find our fix for historical crime drama? With no new series on the horizon from any American networks, we may need to turn towards the BBC. Luckily, there is a show that fits the bill. I bring you PEAKY BLINDERS.

Created by Steven Knight, the writer and director of the Tom Hardy movie LOCKE and the Jason Statham film HUMMINGBIRD (aka REDEMPTION), PEAKY BLINDERS is basically the British version of BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Starring Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill, the series has already finished one season and is preparing to premiere it's second this month.

A gangster family epic set in Birmingham just after World War I, based on the historic Peaky Blinders gang. The story centres on a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps (hence the title), and their ambitious and highly dangerous boss Tommy Shelby. The gang come to the attention of Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, a detective in the Royal Irish Constabulary who is sent over from Belfast to Birmingham to clean up the city and purge it of the gangs.

If the cast wasn't enough to get you excited, the second season will also reunite creator Knight with LOCKE star Tom Hardy who will guest star. A new teaser has debuted online for the second series and I am shocked this is not already set to air somewhere in the U.S. Hopefully the buzz for the show will reach our shores and PEAKY BLINDERS will get an official run on BBC America. For now, check out the teaser.
