Great new featurettes for Star Wars: Rebels introduce two characters

More often than not, featurettes are filled to the brim with shots repeated from a trailer, with a sentence or two from the cast that tells you something you already knew, and maybe a tiny shred of new information. Color me surprised when I actually sat down (confession: I was already sitting down) to watch these two new featurettes released for Star Wars: Rebels. Now, I'll be the first to tell you that as much of a Star Wars fan as I am, I was pretty indifferent to its animated endeavors (Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars aside, which was awesome). I couldn't make it through the first season of Star Wars: Clone Wars, and Star Wars: Rebels was never really on my radar. With that said, I was pretty fascinated by the following featurettes, detailing the makings of the R2-esque droid Chopper, and the Imperial poster boy Kallus.

Introducing the rebellion's newest threat:

Initially, Rebels seemed like just a continuation of Clone Wars (not so much in story, but in spirit), but I'm increasingly becoming more interested in this project. If they keep featurettes like this coming our way, I may be inclined to make room in my schedule to actually watch the pilot when it hits Disney this Fall. Couldn't be any worse than that Clone Wars pilot that hit theaters, right?

Star Wars: Rebels will air with a one-hour special on Disney XD this Fall.
