Hugo Weaving playing six parts in the Wachowski’s Cloud Atlas

Tom Tykwer and the Wachowski’s CLOUD ATLAS is shaping up to be a very interesting project indeed.

We’ve heard that actors might be playing multiple roles in the film, but Hugo Weaving, speaking to the Herald Sun, says he’s actually lined up for a few more than that.

“That’s a project that’s really exciting because all the actors will be playing more than one role… I actually have six characters in the same film and they are all different people in six different stories.”

If you’ll recall, CLOUD ATLAS is based on a book six different stories that connect in minor and major ways. This announcement makes you wonder if other actors in the film (rumored to be Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, James McAvoy and Ian McKellen) might have that many parts as well.

Here’s the official synopsis that ties all the storylines together:

“An epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.”

Very interesting. Can’t wait for a trailer.
