Learn about Xavier's School in the 80s in preparation for X-Men: Apocalypse

It's been a rough road for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE as the film closes in on its release. It's been plagued by mixed reviews early on, hardly what 20th Century Fox anticipated when they showed it to critics three weeks early (our own Eric Walkuski is lukewarm on it at best), and there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm for the sequel that other X-MEN films in the franchise have carried at this late stage of the game.

But that's not going to deter the studio from still trying to use whatever cool means they have at their disposal to sell the movie to fans, which is why today they've traveled back in time to the early-80s to give us a TV commercial for Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. With Lana Condor's Jubilee as your guide, this peek at the fictional school lays out exactly why this school is so special in the first place and, if you're extraordinary, why you should want to attend. Oh, and there's the whole 80s vibe of it all that really ties it together... plus a special appearance towards the end that is sure to please comic fans.

Also, of note, give the phone number at the end a ring if you have a few moments. It's a nice added touch.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE may not be turning a lot of heads to this point, but at least their marketing is stepping up its game.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE opens in theaters on May 27.
