After years away from Hollywood, Lindsay Lohan is finally making a return to acting via a Netflix romantic comedy. The streamer, in the past, has brought plenty of holiday cheer to subscribers thanks to its original holiday movies such as Jingle JangleA Christmas PrinceThe Christmas Chronicles, and The Princess Switch. Many of these films have become repeat watches for folks around the holidays, and now the streamer is looking to put some Lohan under the tree.

In the newly-announced holiday-themed feature, Lohan will play  a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress” who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and “finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.”

Lohan became the talk of Tinseltown after starring in a 1998 reboot of The Parent Trap. She then went on to star in such comedies as Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. Unfortunately, fame was not a smooth ride for Lohan, with her often the victim of tabloids and pushy paparazzi. Plagued by several personal issues and wanting to escape the spotlight, Lohan steadily withdrew from her acting career, opting to spend more of her time in Europe and Dubai.

In 2019, Lohan told Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she wanted to “come back to America and start filming again,” and “taking back the life that I worked so hard for, and sharing it with my family and you guys.” Fast-forward to today, and we have Lohan signing on for a Netflix holiday-themed joint. Production for the project is scheduled to begin in November, so it won't be out in time for this Christmas.

Janeen Damian (Hallmark Channel’s A Christmas Waltz) will direct, and it was written by Damian, Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett, and Ron Oliver. MPCA’s Brad Krevoy and Riviera Films’ Michael Damian are producing.

Welcome back, Ms. Lohan! It's nice to see you again!
