Marvel hints at what’s to come with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 synopsis

It's one of those days where Marvel Studios are going to tease us about the unknown, offering up synopses for their upcoming films that say so very little but pique our interest enough to get the fans talking, thinking and speculating about what their vagueness could really mean. That's one of the ingredients to their special sauce that keeps audiences coming back movie after movie… and, while it can be frustrating at times, who am I to criticize how they've built their billion-dollar empire?

Case in point… today we have an official synopsis for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 gifted to us, and, while that may sound exciting with the film less than a year away, it's less awesome once you open the box and realize Marvel gave us socks.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Okay, so the "Who is Peter Quill's dad?" story arc appears to be a major component to the film. We kinda knew that already, so what else did we learn here? Old is new, foes become friends, maybe friends become foes, up is down, dark is light… It's a world of opposites we're heading into as more characters are introduced and the MCU gets bigger.

See… I told you this wasn't as eventful as you might have hoped. I warned you about the socks.

But with GUARDIANS 2 recently wrapping principal photography, that means the May 5, 2017 release date is a reality that gets closer every day, so take some solace in that.
