We've seen a few images from THE MARTIAN, and now a very promising first trailer has been released for Ridley Scott's big screen adaptation of the Andy Weir novel of the same name. Matt Damon plays astronaut Mark Watney, who gets stuck on the red planet after he is left behind by his crew following a massive storm, and the film also stars Jeff Daniels, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Chiwetel Ejiofor, just to name a few. I've read that Weir's book has a bit of humor in it, and we get a taste of that in the trailer. Below you'll also find the previously released viral teaser trailer for the upcoming film.

Although THE MARTIAN looks gorgeous, so did Ridley Scott's EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS, but it was a big disappointment critically, and only grossed $65 million in domestic theaters against a $140 million budget. However, I have a feeling Scott's latest effort is going to do pretty well with critics and at the box office.
