MCU directors assemble for a pic on set of The Mandalorian

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

T’was only ten years ago that the director of MADE and ELF, Jon Favreau, released his biggest project ever – the $100 million comic book movie IRON MAN starring Robert Downey Jr. The movie was so good it launched a franchise that changed the media landscape forever and set Favreau on the path to bigger and bigger projects. Now he’s got his hands in another massive universe – Star Wars – and is behind the new series THE MANDALORIAN, and during production, he got together with some pals for a pic that is sure to make the geek in us all light up.

While on the set of MANDALORIAN, Favreau posted a pic of him with fellow MCU helmers Joe and Anthony Russo (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR), Peyton Reed (ANT-MAN AND THE WASP) and Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK). The former three gentlemen were merely visiting the set, but Waititi is also directing one of the episodes of the show. Both Star Wars and Marvel are owned by Disney, so of course, once you get in with one franchise you get some credentials to pop around to the other. But you know what this pic proves the greatest franchise of all is? Friendship.

The first photos and plot synopsis for MANDALORIAN have dropped in the last month or so, and we’ve also gotten some big casting news with Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano nabbing parts. Though the men pictured above may not all have their hands in the show, the series has some big names attached to directing various episodes, including Rick Famuyiwa, Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, and Bryce Dallas Howard.  But. honestly, how much more excited for this show would you be knowing that the Russos were taking on an episode? The answer is "very"; you would be very excited.

Here's the synopsis:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
