NBC cooking up Young Rock, a sitcom based on the life of Dwayne Johnson

Can you smmmeeeeeeeel that??!!!! It's my breakfast sandwich but also a brand new sitcom for NBC based on the life of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. That's right if you were ever interested in what the Brahma Bull was like as a teenager this is your chance. The network has ordered an eleven episode straight-to-series sitcom for Young Rock. Young Rock comes courtesy of Fresh Off The Boat creator Nahnnatchka Khan and Dwayne Johnson himself.

The initial run will consist of eleven episodes and is set to be a single-camera comedy. Fans of the HOBBS AND SHAW actor will be pleased to know that Dwayne Johnson will be appearing in each episode as well. I'm anticipating Johnson introducing and closing each episode ala Rod Serling in The Twilight Zone. Of course it will probably be sans political commentary, people having time enough to read after a nuclear holocaust, or William Shatner screaming at a gremlin. Although, Johnson is all about showmanship so I guess anything is possible.

While streaming services and cable networks tend to rule the roost when it comes to quality television these days, every once in awhile you'll get a diamond like Fresh Off The Boat. The NBC sitcom is finishing up it's sixth and final season and Nahnnatchka is a strong young voice in television. Her signature humor fits hand in glove with Johnson's backstory. I'm a little surprised that this is a straight comedy though. Johnson's early years were somewhat turbulent. He was arrested multiple times as a teenager for theft, fighting, and check fraud. The man's come a long way in the last thirty years.

Like many I am absolutely astounded by the prolific nature of Dwayne Johnson. The man had three films come out in 2019, he's got the second season of The Titan Games (also on NBC) later this year, as well as Disney's JUNGLE CRUISE. He's also currently training for BLACK ADAM and typically has multiple speaking engagements. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson is currently working on a solution for climate change as well. Knowing him he'll probably just Rock Bottom its candy ass.

So who would you guys like to see play a young Dwayne Johnson? Will you be tuning in for this show? Sound off in the comments below!
