Orlando Bloom expresses interest in returning to Pirates of the Caribbean

A few months back, Walt Disney Pictures officially slated a release date for the in-development PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. They were reluctant to offer up any more details on the flick, aside from the likelihood that Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush would be returning as Jack Sparrow and Barbossa, respectively. Now it looks like it's possible a third member may return to the franchise, and that would be Orlando Bloom. Bloom recently dropped by the Oz Comic-Con in Brisbane, Australia to offer up some details.

Orlando Bloom had this to say:

There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift.

For whatever reason, Orlando Bloom is at home in period pieces and with THE HOBBIT coming to a close this year, it makes sense that he'd be looking to jump back into a franchise that's a "sure thing". Given what happened with his character at the end of AT WORLD'S END, I'd be curious to see in what fashion they bring him back.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES is set to be released on July 17, 2017.

If they bring back Keira Knightley as well . . . I would be okay with that.
