Scrapped Predators sequel would have been Die Hard on a Predator ship

Predators 2, Die Hard

While it couldn't touch the original PREDATOR, I still thought that Nimród Antal's PREDATORS was a hell of a lot of fun, and although 20th Century Fox was discussing a direct sequel to the film at one point, the next installment of the franchise was Shane Black's THE PREDATOR.

PREDATORS featured an ensemble cast, including Adrien Brody and Alice Braga, who had been abducted by the Predators and placed on an alien world that served as a hunting ground. By the end of the film, only Royce (Brody) and Isabelle (Braga) are left standing, but with more Predators on the way, their ordeal was far from over. While speaking with AVP Galaxy (h/t Blood Disgusting), PREDATORS co-writer Alex Litvak laid out how the potential sequel to PREDATORS would have played out, and it sounds pretty awesome. Royce and Isabelle would have saved multiple people from the Predators and set up their own little tribe of survivors, but they knew that the only way to get off the planet was to take over a Predator ship.

At the end of Act One Royce, Isabelle and their guys are captured by Super Predators – on purpose because they allow themselves to be captured – and are brought to their ship that they use to funnel people to this planet. There’s got to be some sort of big transport. So now you get to see this transport. So our guys breakout…and what the movie is is Die Hard on a Predator ship.

"The idea was now you break free and now you’re trying to take control of the ship with all of the Super Predators you have to fight there," Litvak continued. "And of course all the other shit that’s there…like the alien zoo on that ship… And get this…the last thing is why Drew [20th Century Fox] was like “wow, I love that idea!” At the end of the day we win, we get back to Earth, we land and we realise it’s the future! All along we thought this was happening now, but what if these guys have been on ice for 300 years? The hatch opens, and the Space [Colonial] Marines come in!" This would have merged the ALIEN and PREDATOR franchises once again, but although Litvak says that Fox loved it, he never got the call to start the script. Damn. What do you folks think? Would you have liked to have seen this PREDATORS sequel?
