Spidey does Europe in first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home

We’ve seen footage for Marvel’s next solo outing, CAPTAIN MARVEL, as well as for their expansive new epic, AVENGERS: ENDGAME, and now it’s time for everyone's favorite web-head to get his shot with the first trailer for SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME. I know what you’re thinking: How can he be getting his own solo movie when he's currently a pile of cigarette ash in the ashtray of my grandpa’s Buick? Well, the trailer answers literally zero percent of that, but it does tease a globe-trotting adventure with the web-slinger, which is distracting enough for us to forget about those pesky plot holes for a minute or two.

Finding one Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) on a school trip to Europe he is soon thrust into a whole new dangerous scenario thanks to the meddling efforts of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The trailer teases a care-free Spidey outing, the trailer utilizing yet another Ramones song after using "Blitzkrieg Bop" in HOMECOMING, and throws out plenty of gags and general comic book awesomeness. The most exciting part was the reveal of Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio, who seems to be doing some hero work before getting into whatever shady business he has in store. Never trust a man in a cape and fishbowl head, I always say.

Jon Watts returns to direct after helming the excellent HOMECOMING, which was Spidey’s first solo outing in the MCU. Again, don’t expect any answers here as to why Spidey is no longer the contents of the urn in the back of my grandpa’s Buick (it’s not a clean car), but this is simply a new trailer for a new Spider-Man movie as if there was nothing else to explain or out of the ordinary. Just be prepared to spend that money and wait for answers later.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME also stars Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and J.B. Smoove and hits theaters July 5.
