Taylor Lautner to flex acting muscles opposite Adam Sandler in Grown Ups 2

With the TWILIGHT series finally coming to a close this year (that is, of course, not counting its fan fiction which actually got optioned by Universalidiots), all eyes are on Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner to see what new cinematic challenges they will take up next. Stewart has SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN along with other smaller indie roles which have always been her bread and butter. Pattinson has actually been stretching himself dramatically, even working with the amazing David Cronenberg on the very enticing-looking COSMOPOLIS.

And then there’s Lautner who starred in the abysmal John Singleton flick ABDUCTION, is attached to play Stretch f*cking Armstrong, and now according to THR, will appear in GROWN UPS 2 alongside Adam Sandler. Oy vey! When starring in a Sandler production is actually the least problematic thing on your plate, then you know you’ve got problems. Lautner evidently has the worst reps in Hollywood.

Most of the gang from the first film are expected to return, including Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph, and Salma Hayek. Dennis Dugan – fresh off a Razzie win for JACK AND JILL – will once again direct. As for Lautner, THR says that the set of abs “will make an appearance in a ‘fun’ role, in which he goes toe-to-toe with Sandler.”

The first film’s synopsis: Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade, is a comedy about five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph) and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn’t mean growing up.
