Warner Bros is not wasting any time getting their new trilogy of movies inspired by the Harry Potter books FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM up and running. The announced films, which are being scripted by author JK Rowling herself, are on track and the first movie will hit theaters on November 18, 2016.

There is not much about the plot that we know aside from the fact that it will take place in New York City and focus on magizoologist Newt Scamander. It will also be set 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter novels, meaning it will be set around the 1930s or 1940s. There is no casting or directing news at this time, but with a firm release date in hand, I would expect the studio would have those in place by the end of the year.

The Harry Potter films were incredibly lucrative for Warner Bros and creating a new franchise that doesn’t rely directly on Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, or the rest of the cast will open up the possibilities for future films. Here’s hoping we see the same level of quality here as on that eight-film franchise.
