Thor: Love and Thunder, Russell Crowe, Zeus, Marvel, 2022

It sounds as if Russell Crowe is prepared to eat lightning and crap thunder because it's been revealed that he'll play Zeus in Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder.

Crowe confirmed the role himself during an appearance on the Australian radio show JOY Breakfast with The Murphy's, saying "I'm going to get up on my bicycle, I'm going to ride up to Disney/Fox Studios, and around about 9:15, I shall be Zeus." He also revealed that it would be his last day of filming, adding, "It's for Thor. It's my last day of Zeus-ing about and I'm going to enjoy it."

You can listen to the full clip below:

According to Marvel Fandom, Zeus, or Zeus Panhellenios, is a member of the Olympians, a group of humanoid beings that hail from the pocket dimension of Olympus. He was worshiped by the humans of Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. He is supreme monarch of the Olympians, God of the heavens, sky, and weather.

Now, before you go getting thoughts of Thor doing a buddy comedy team-up with Zeus, I'll remind you that Christian Bale is playing Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming film. In other words, Zeus is likely to meet the nasty end of Gorr's weapon of choice, All-Black the Necrosword. Of course, Zeus being a part of the story suggests that we'll be seeing other God-like beings from Olympus being slain, so be sure to wear a poncho. After all, god blood does not wash out.
