RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES brought a great balance of characterization, empathy and an action-packed third act. While there were some elements that felt a little off (Draco Malfoy being lifted directly from the Potter-verse, and a few dialogue bits), it was a momentously successful prequel to the original PLANET OF THE APES. Now we have a clip showing us some of what we’re in for with DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

All’s looking pretty swell, as far as I’m concerned. My only hope is that the film doesn’t feel like it’s holding back on the action until the third-act showdown, but we’ll see. As long as the writing keeps a strong emphasis on its characters, I’m sure we’ll be in for another fun ride.
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES will ride into theaters on July 11, 2014.
